Our Vision
Of particular importance to us is landscape design, site planning and the continuity
of built and natural landscapes. Indoor space and outdoor space share a common
ground. We believe that the collaboration between clients, architects, artists, and
landscape architects ensures the realization of buildings and landscapes as places
of clarity and beauty.
Our philosophy leads us to value radiant space and light over expensive materials
and difficult details. To these ends, we aspire toward innovation, but not simply for
the sake of being different. The innovative use of proven technologies is our goal,
and we expect our innovations to perform at least as well as their predecessors.
Blackbird Architects designs spaces where
one will be easily and naturally oriented
- where one has the sense of being at home in a place. The building and its
environs become a landscape for experience, enjoyment, and intensified awareness
rather than simply a sculptural object. Jut as a tool can fit the hand and task
comfortably, a place or building should embrace its inhabitants and their lives.
