Isla Vista, CA, 2000-2001
Finalist in the Isla Vista community revitalization design competition. This proposal places a high priority on rehabilitating and gently modifying the existing network of streets and open spaces in Isla Vista as an appropriate, highly effective, and very economic means to a beautiful and functional end. By combining policy and design with sensitivity to Isla Vista’s unique qualities of history, ethnic diversity, and ecology, the community can regain its identity and its connection to an incredible landscape.
